GTD and Ticklers

Tickler is an essential part of GTD, as it allows you to uncloud items that you have decided not to take away your attention until a specific date.

It is amazing that most apps that claims to do GTD does not even have the word "Tickler" in the app itself. I feel that Tickler deserves a prominent place in the app, as every day, we should go through the tickler file, to look at things that we want to be reminded of today.

A lot of apps have the concept of Start Dates, however, it works poorly as Tickler Dates, here's why:

Start Dates are usually applied to items that are already in the next actions, someday, project list. When you are viewing the next actions, someday, project list, you need to make a conscious effort, to decide to show or hide those items that have future Start Dates. During engage mode, we should hide them, and during review, we should show them. If you forgot to hide them when you want to engage, it clouds your mind, if you forgot to show them during review, you missed doing a full review!

Claritist implement items in tickler as totally out of any other lists, and the items in tickler can even be moved into Inbox if you wish to. You do not need filters or saved searches on each Next Actions to perform filters based on Start Dates.
